Roda walked past the vast expanse of what looked like a thousand tanks without treads or wheels, following the Head Unicorn. Franzie followed closely behind. He got to the end of the line of tanks and found himself in front of a large, saluting crowd of soldiers. "These," said the Head Unicorn, "are the men you shall be commanding. They are the best of the best." Roda looked at them standing there, all menacing and  badass and whatnot. They were all in their military fatigues, clutching the same strange-looking pole thingy. "Do you remember commands?" asked the Head Unicorn. "No," said Roda. The Head Unicorn sighed. "Well, Franzie will be with you, and she knows the commands. Just tell her what you want them to do, and she'll give the orders." Suddenly, a green vehicle that actually did have wheels came out of nowhere and pulled up behind the group.
"This," said the Head Unicorn, "is the vehicle you'll be taking. You and Franzie will sit in the back. The device is under the seat with the radio embedded in it. To activate it, simply open it up and flip the switch inside." Franzie opened up the door and slid across the seat, beckoning Roda to come with her. He got in. "The convoy will be ready in an hour or so," said the Head Unicorn. "You will wait at the military gates of the wall. Good luck." Roda shut the door, and the vehicle zoomed off to the militatry entrance.
"So, Franzie," said Roda, "have they used the Globenklobb before the incident I had?" "Yes, of course. What they used on you was exactly like the ones they use during temporary vozrozhny, only in an independent device," she ?replied. "Wait, what?" asked Roda. "In all vozrozhny, memory is lost." This puzzled Roda. "If that's true, then how did Lenin remember that he was once a Unicorn?" he asked. "So many questions," sighed Franzie. "I don't know." She started to get a little confused herself. Roda, for some reason, stopped asking her questions. The vehicle came to a stop, and they sat in silence until the convoy came.
Finally, some hovering military trucks and tanks pulled up behind the vehicle, and three tanks went in front of it. The radio suddenly crackled to life. A man speaking in what sounded like Russian said, well, something. Franzie grabbed the mic and replied. The driver picked up his own mic and also said something. The man speaking over the radio said something else, and both Franzie and the driver put their mics back. The convoy began moving.
For a few minutes, they were driving through an empty area, but then, they went into a more urbanized area. Roda saw, for the first time in his life, Dwarves. They looked exactly like regular people, except they were Asian, and really short (even for an Asian person). They all stared at the convoy, with eyes that gave them nothing but hate. Even the children, who attempted to hide within the beards of their fathers, or in their mother's arms, gave them the same, horrible look of fearful contempt as they passed the run-down buildings. Suddenly, the sound of guns rang through the canyon of the miserable city. A really neat, pew pew sort of sound followed, along with the sounds of a deeper, thudding pew pew, which were followed by explosions. "Guns?" asked Roda. "Why are the Dwarves using guns?" "Because, they can't use magical weapons," replied Franzie. Suddenly, the convoy stopped. The driver of the vehicle said something under his breath. Franzie picked up the mic, and said something in Unicorn. Another voice replied. "We're stuck, a building in front of us collapsed in the middle of the road," she said to Roda, bitterly. "Then tell the convoy to get out of their vehicles, we have to go by foot," said Roda. "Are you crazy? You could get us all killed!" said Franzie. "Well, that's a risk we've got to take," said Roda as he opened the door, taking a suitcase out from under the seat in front of him. Franzie relayed the orders over the radio and followed him out, pulling her wand out of her pocket. Franzie's outfit suddenly started shimmering again, and her butterfly wings uncurled. She extended her wand and started firing shots of white energy. All the troops got out of their trucks, and started firing wildly. "Come on!" yelled Roda over the guns. The men ran after them, and they all climbed over the debris of the broken building, ignoring the bodies of the civilians killed by Unicorn tanks.
They ran for what felt like hours, firing in all directions, until they entered an area filled with rubble and fire.Dwarves were running around in panic, screaming. Burning. Smoking from their wounds.  Chunks of fiery debris littered the streets. Well, they would, if the chunks of fire were debris. "White phosphorous!" said Franzie, surprised. "What?" asked Roda. "White phosphorous," repeated Franzie. "I heard rumors it was being used, but I never believed them." "Why would the Unicorns use white phosphorous?" asked Roda. "Sometimes, weapons that work without magic can not be replaced with weapons that do," replied Franzie. Roda heard a scream, and looked to where it was.
A female Dwarf with severe burns was lying next to a carriage turned on its side. Roda ran to her, and Franzie followed. He kneeled next to her, and laid the suitcase down. Her wounds smoked. The woman looked at them, and said something in what sounded like Chinese. "What's she saying?" asked Roda, who was beginning to panic. "She said to not worry about her, to save her baby," said Franzie. Roda ran to the carriage, and picked up the baby. It didn't respond. "Roda," said Franzie, "she's dead." Roda looked at Franzie, who had begun to cry, and had a facial expression that made her look as if she had learned, for the first time, that evil existed. Roda looked down at the baby, its eyes open, staring blankly. Tears started streaming down his face. "Can't we make them alive again? Can't we help them, Franzie? Can't we?" "No, Roda, there's nothing we can do," replied Franzie. Roda's eyes closed. Suddenly, something clicked. Memories flooded back into his head. He remembered everything.
One day, when they put him in for temporary vozrozhny, the Globbenklobb malfunctioned, or something. When he went out to the battlefield, he realized what he was doing. He defected to the Dwarves, but they were just as evil. He left them, and the Unicorn government was able to track him down. They killed his temporary body. They put him through permanent vozrozhny. Then, they covered up the fact they had gotten rid of a national hero by saying he had accidental vozrozhny, just like every other popular person they got rid of in a similar way. Accidental vozrozhny didn't even exist! It was a lie, all of it was a lie! Then he remembered their true goal, and realized what was really in the suitcase...
His eyes shot open. They were filled with anger. "Franzie, can you teleport me back to the capitol?" he asked. "Why?" she asked in reply. "I just realized what was in the suitcase." Franzie looked at him, puzzled. Roda put the dead baby down, and said, "Can we make it so that the switch on the device is timed?" "We can try," replied Franzie. "Do it," said Roda. Franzie opened the suitcase, revealing a solitary, red switch. "How long do you want it timed for?" asked Franzie. Roda thought for a moment. "About five minutes," he said. "How far does the capitol's radiation shield reach?" he asked. "To the walls of the building, why?" she asked. "Nothing," he said. Franzie closed her eyes, and her wand glowed white as it pointed at the switch. "Done," she said as she opened her eyes. "Let's go, then!" said Roda. "What about the other men?" asked Franzie. "To fuck with them!" said Roda. "Just get us to the capitol!" Franzie handed the suitcase back to Roda, and Roda took Franzie's hand. She pointed the wand into the air, and with a bright, white flash, they were standing in front of the capitol.
"Stay here!" said Roda. "What are you doing?" asked Franzie as Roda ran into the building. "Trust me!" he said as he burst through the front doors. He ran to the center of the rotunda, and laid the suitcase on the ground. Only three more minutes, at the most, for sure. He ran back outside. "Roda, what's going on?" asked Franzie. "Hold on," said Roda. A minute or two later, there was an explosion. The capitol seemed to light up suddenly, then get dark once again. Roda ran back in, and Franzie followed him.
Bursting through the front doors, Roda saw a small hole in the floor where the neutron bomb had once been. He smiled as he ran through the door in front of him. Inside the council chambers, he could see the bodies of dead Unicorn Coucil members laying with their heads on their tables. One or two seemed to be hanging on desparately to their lives. But what pleased Roda most was what was behind the judge's pulpit. Two Protezhruka arms struggled to get their owner up. Finally, the Head Unicorn's head came above the podium. "What?" it said. "You treasonous bastard! What did you do?" he asked, sounding firm and strong, yet at the same time, weak and sickly. "I have done nothing but win the battle for justice," said Roda. "There will be a new revolution! The people of these two nations will no longer fight bitterly, but will exist as friends!" "You fool!" said the Head Unicorn. "You've no idea what they're capable of!" "Tell that to the baby you killed," said Roda. The Head Unicorn glared at him angrily. "I did not-" Suddenly, the Head Unicorn's eyes blanked over. The Protezhruka whirred down to a halt, and the metallic arms let go of the edge of the podium. Its owner's body slowly slid down, and the Council of Unicorns was no more.
Whew! This was hard work. I feel accomplished!
